Almost from the minute it opened its doors in 1995, Point B experienced major success. By early 2008, while the employee-owned management consulting firm had grown to over 400 employees and business was booming, non-consulting core management functions – HR, Culture, Training, Marketing and Finance – were operating as silos. Appointment to core management was frequently perceived as a step away from the core business of client delivery.
To turn effectiveness and perceptions around, Mike Pongon became Point B’s first COO and then formed the Operations Leadership Team (OLT). Having experienced the value of BECAUZ programs for five years, one of Mike’s first moves was to engage our firm – because he understood that deep cultural transformation requires an externally applied force.
From the OLT’s inception, Point B has used a custom-designed Transform Lead Exceed (TLE) Program to maximize its leadership impact and contribution. The program has spurred alignment, supported the development of greater leadership capabilities and focused the team on the execution of key initiatives with cross-functional support. Using our Quarterly Strategic Team Offsites, One-to-One Coaching and vigorous Leadership Development the team surpassed Mike’s objectives.
Even in the current challenging business climate, Point B moves forward relentlessly towards its business goals. The key? Aligned leadership with determined focus. Now recognized throughout the firm – and by clients – for its focus, the OLT is seen as a critical ingredient that helps each associate deliver the firm’s best for its clients.
