Microsoft Field IT was created in 2007 from over 40 country-specific local units as part of the vision to be a World Class IT Organization that drives efficiency and consistency. In its first 12 months, Field IT transitioned to a regionally integrated entity (Asia, EMEA and the Americas) and in 2009 the organization pivoted to its ultimate form - an innovative Shared Services Model to leverage expertise across the globe. The systemic change was colossal, demanding that all of Field IT's 320 people develop new ways of thinking and behaving in order to become a truly Global Unified Team that speak a common "language."
