Trust

The word “trust” doesn’t get used in a lot of work environments. It’s a sensitive subject that hits close to home. It’s possibly too “touchy-feely” for some work cultures – viewed as an intangible element that has no true impact on the bottom line.

But trust in the workplace can have actually a strong, demonstrable effect on the health and success of your company. As BECAUZ Facilitator, John Barron, says: “Trust in the workplace isn’t a soft skill. It accelerates the movement of work through the system, so things move more quickly, at less cost.”

People tend to say they “trust someone” or “don’t trust someone” as if trust is something that just exists or doesn’t. But teams can actually increase the level of trust among members. It takes group work, individual transparency, and perhaps taking some risks. And sometimes team coaching is the answer. A seasoned Team Coach can guide a work group through learning, discussions and exercises that can cultivate – and earn – a greater level of trust among team members. And greater trust will lead to stronger results and a healthier work environment.
